Charges are filed following shootout Charges were filed against two people following a shootout near a Supply home Saturday. One man was hit by bullets in both legs and was hospitalized, reported detective Nancy Simpson of the Brunswick County Sheriffs Depart ment. William Dean Hcwclt, 26, of Shal lotte and .tree others were allegedly firing weapons at one another and into a nearby home during the dis pute that occurred around 6:30 p.m. Hcwett was struck by bullets, but he was also charged with firing into an occupied dwelling, said Simpson. Gina Michelle Tripp, 18, of 178 Ocean Boulevard West, Supply, was charged with assault, the report states. Confiscated at the scene were two ,38-calibcr handguns, a .22-calibcr Health ratings The Brunswick County Health Depart ment last week issued the following sanitation trades to local restaurants, food servile establishments and lodging facilities. An estimated 50 shots were fired during the shootout that stemmed from a domestic dispute. In other reports on file at the sheriffs department: •O’Conner Construction Co. of 1304 NorJi Howe Street, Southport, reported Friday someone stole a riding lawn mower it owns valued at $900, reported deputy Cathy Hamilton. The red, 38-inch cut mower was removed from a trailer. •Two chrome tire rims were removed from a pond in Wood Duck ReU'cat where an oil slick in dicates other car parts may be stashed in the water, reported deputy Rebekah McDonald. A neighbor noticed the rims and oil about two weeks ago. The rims were con fiscated by deputies. •Gerald Young of Cedar Hill Road believes someone stole his mixed-breed German shepherd from his yard Friday. The black, brown and white dog was trained not to leave the , ard but has been reported missing, stated deputy William Hcwctt. A car was spotted passing the home slowly and speeding away when the dog began barking. The driver had also pulled into the driveway and pushed a gate open with the car. •Another $150 was stolen from a home on Zion Church Road near Town Creek Sunday, deputy Richard Long reported. Someone apparently entered the home while the resident was asleep. Part of the money belonged to the Town Creek Dixie Youth League. •A boat trailer was stolen from the Davis Creek landing parking area in Navassa Sunday, reported deputy Brian Sanders. A Leland resident returned from a boat trip and noticed the trailer missing from his van. Brunswick District Court The following cases were heard in Brunswick County District Court by judges David G. Danny Bridger Crocker, PNG/G driv ing while impaired level 3, BCJ six months, suspended two years, super vised probation two years, $200, costs, Lakes man sentenced to ten years for trafficking, forgery A Boiling Spring Lakes man who pleaded guilty to six charges and admitted to twice violating his parole was sentenced to ten years in prison. Carl Henry Alston. 19, of 1346 Fifty Lakes Drive, pleaded guilty in Brunswick County Superior Court to two counts of sale of cocaine, two counts of sale of marijuana, larceny and forgery. He also told judge Dexter Brooks he twice vio lated his parole. The judge sentenced Alston to ten years in prison on the six charges and recommended he serve as a committed youthful offender. He was sentenced to two years on one probation count and seven years on the other, both to run con current with the ten-year sentence. He must also pay $430 in attorney fees and restitution to victims if given parole or work release. Indictments handed down April 19 by a Bruns wick County grand jury accused him of stealing a $4,100 Suzuki motorcycle from a home on Wavcrly Road in Boiling Spring Lakes last September. He was also charged with twice selling cocaine and marijuana last July. Another charge accused him of forging a signature on a SI00 check made payable to him in December. Judge Brooks also heard the following cases in volving area defendants: •Lloyd Lee Bolt, 25, of Old Forest Estates, Lcland; pleaded guilty to two counts breaking and entering, NCDOC six years, suspended, supervised probation five years, $100, costs, restitution $1,600 to Danny Flowers, $360 attorney fees, 100 hours community service. •Robert Scott Eubank, 29, of Lot 4, Brunswick Mobile Home Park, Leland; pleaded guilty to pos session with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, sale and delivery of cocaine, NCDOC ten years to run concurrent with time now serving, pay as condition of parole or early release, costs, restitution $100 to Brunswick County undercover fund. •James Sullivan, Winnabow, asked that probation be revoked, NCDOC two years. •Teri Philpott Crisp, 32, of Village Road, Leland; admits probation violation, sentence activated, NCDOC two years, $180 attorney fees. •David Ayed Desfonds, 17, of RL 1, Winnabow; pleaded gi.ilty to taking indecent liberties, NCDOC ten years, suspended, supervised probation five years, $100, costs, $600 attorney fees, 100 hours community service, restitution to victim determined by probation officer, intensive probation six months. •Larry Franklin Potter, 43, West Street, South port; admits probation violation, continue on proba tion, assessment. •Rodney Gene Little, 46, Leland; admits proba tion violation, probation revoked, NCDOC two years, recommends work release. •Carl Henry Hewett, 34, Supply; pleaded no con test one count taking indecent liberties, NCDOC ten years, suspended, supervised probation five years, $100, costs, restitution determined by proba tion officer, $5,000 attorney fees, 100 hours com munity service.
